Business Management and Office Skills
Business Administration Level 1
OCR Examinations Board

Level 1 is a basic skills level, which is made up of a number of different units covering the key elements required as a first entry office junior.

Business Administration Level 2
OCR Examinations Board

Level 2 covers a range of administrative skills consisting of mandatory units and optional units. Candidates must achieve all mandatory units and a number of optional units for a full NVQ. It is not necessary for candidates to achieve Level 1 before progressing to Level 2. Candidates may enter at a level which is appropriate to their needs.

Business Administration Level 3
OCR Examinations Board

Level 3 covers competence in a broad range of varied work activities performed in a wide variety of contexts and most of which are complex and non-routine. There is considerable responsibility and autonomy, and control or guidance of others is often required. This level contains mandatory units and optional units of which a selected range must be taken to achieve the full NVQ.

Team Leading Level 2
OCR Examinations Board

Not a management qualification but a stepping-stone into supervisory skills and management.  Intended for employees who are entering management or have the ability and opportunity to demonstrate recognisable ‘management’ skills.  Candidates could be organising and communicating information; working with others; leading teams; planning use of time or equipment etc.  Candidates should not easily be able to meet the requirements for NVQ ‘Management Level 3’.

Management Level 3
OCR Examinations Board

This qualification is broadly aimed at supervisors who are responsible for the control of activities and work output of small teams. While this includes roles such as senior charge hand and junior office manager, the qualification is not solely aimed at a discrete level of organisational hierarchy. It is appropriate for those who manage ‘sideways’ or ‘upwards’ in the context of a project group, as for those people who have regular charge over a fixed team.

Management Level 4
OCR Examinations Board

A qualification aimed at individuals with more autonomy in their management role than the level 3 supervisors. Although people at this level are often referred to as ‘first line managers’, individuals may find the focus of their work is more to do with managing projects, or with technical matters, than with people.
